Homework and Classwork for the week of
February 1, 2010
History
This week we will be starting the Great Depression. Throughout the lesson we will incorporate economics, personal stories, and look at how the Depression effected other nations. Due to conferences, there will be no current events and no geography. Don't forget, Thursday and Friday are half days, morning attendance only!

Lit Skills
This week we will finish reading our novel. Journals and packets must be completed by Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, we will have an open book quiz. All books must be returned after the quiz. If you do not have your book, remember to bring a check for $6.00 (made out to Brooks!) to pay for a replacement book.

History
This week we will be finishing our unit on woman's suffrage. We will finish watching censored scenes from Iron Jawed Angels and we will wrap everything up with a writing assignment. At the end off the week we will start talking about the Great Depression.

Homework and Classwork for the week of
January 19, 2010


Before discussing the upcoming week, I would like to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Rachel Juarez and I am very excited to be completing my student teaching in Ms. CP's classroom! I have had a wonderful time getting to know the students and I am looking forward to the next three months. I will be in Ms. CP's classroom until April 23rd before returning to Dominican University for graduation this May.


History

This week we will be discussing the Woman's Suffrage movement. We will be discussing the 72 year fight for suffrage from the Seneca Falls Convention to the passing of the 19th Amendment. Students will be analyzing political cartoons, watching censored parts of Iron Jawed Angels, and of course writing! We will be discussing the views of multiple suffrage groups (including anti-suffragists) as well as the role President Woodrow Wilson played.

Literary Skills





We will continue reading from our novel Summer of My German Soldier.  This week we will be finishing through chapter 17.  Remember to keep up to date with your journal entries, they may be checked anytime!

History
We will continue our study of the 1920's. Students will work on the Chapter 22 note taking packet finishing sections 3 & 4 by Friday. Everyone needs to read pages 746-755 .There is an essay due on Tue. 1/19 dealing with issues during this time frame. Students will read about four problems, choose two, and write about them. There will be an open note quiz on Friday as well.
