Classwork and Homework for the week of
November 30, 2009
We have two days of modified schedule so we will not have our regular current event or geography assignments this week.
History
On Wednesday, we will begin our study of WWI. Will will read from our history book, pages 702-722 and take notes. We will use our Age of Extremes and War, Peace, and All That Jazz, to supplement.
Students need to take notes on all the reading.
There will be in class assignments that may carry over to homework if they are not finished.
Lit. Skills
We will have independent reading all this week due to our author visit and read in. Students are encouraged to bring high interest reading material with them every day.
NO TRIVIA
WE WILL BE BACK TO OUR REGULAR SCHEDULE AND HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS NEXT WEEK.
Late Work Procedures for 2nd Trimester CHANGE
Everyone needs to be aware that I have modified late work rules for the second trimester. I will accept late work up to MIDTERM. I will not accept any late work after that point in the trimester.

We have two in-class activities this week dealing with current issues. Both lessons will come from our Upfront Magazines.
LIT. SKILLS
We continue reading, The Sledding Hill, by Chris Cutcher in preparation for his visit the week of November 30th.
NO HOMEWORK AT ALL THIS WEEK

Classwork and Homework for the week of
November 16, 2009
History
We begin the week with an open note quiz on Economics. We will finish up our introduction to the Progressive Era Presidents this week. We will have groups teaching one another about the Struggles for Justice, pages 660-665. Each group will be responsible for teaching one section. We will begin the study on Tuesday and presentations will be on Thursday. Groups are encouraged to present the material in a fun and exciting manner!
We will have a mini lesson Friday exploring Ida B. Wells and her work to stop mob violence.
Homework
Current event due 11/17
NO GEOGRAPHY
Lit. Skills
We have our open book test Monday. We will review the test on Tuesday. If you do not have your novel, you will need to buy a new one or bring in money to replace the missing book.
Wed., Thur. and Friday will be movie days. No homework this week.
Trivia
In two paragraphs answer the following question. This is due on 11/20.

Classwork and Homework for the week of
November 9, 2009
We continue our study of the Industrialists this week. We have reading in our supplemental book as well as our history books. Students need to read pages 640-653 and take notes.
Current event is due Tue. 11/10
Questions 1 and 2, both 'A' and 'B' on page 648 is due Friday, 11/13
Geography is due Friday, 11/13
Industrialists Pro/Con packet due Friday, 11/13*We will have some time in class to work on this but the bulk will be done at home.
If you have any current event passes, turn them in for extra credit before Friday 11/13.
Lit. Skills
We will finish our novel this week. The packet will be due on Friday, 11/13. We will have our final test on Monday, 11/16. It will be open book so everyone must have their book with them. I will collect the novels after the test. Any student who does not have their book, will need to replace theirs with a new or slightly used one OR pay the library.
