Homework and Classwork for the week of
September 28, 2009
History
We will be working on a Pro/Con packet dealing with the Equal Rights Amendment. Students will work in a group reading information regarding both sides of this issue and answering questions and giving their opinions.
We will watch the film, Twelve Angry Men, this week to give us a better understanding of our Judicial system.
We will also finish an Upfront Magazine activity from last week. One paragraph reflection for each article that was read. Four articles were assigned.
In addition to the usual homework, students will have a crossword puzzle due on Friday.

Lit. Skills
We will read chapters 10-12 this week. Students are to illustrate any two scenes from chapters 6-12 and write a few sentences of descriptions.
Everyone should be working on their packet. There are chapter questions and summaries due when we finish reading the novel.
Students are encouraged to take AR tests for their personal reading books.

Homework for the week of
September 21, 2009
History
We continue our study of the US Constitution. Students will read and discuss pages 38-40 on Mon. and read pages 41-42 for homework.
We have our second quiz on Tues. dealing with the Supreme Court. This quiz will come from our Upfront Magazine.
Wednesday and Thursday will be segments of our dvd dealing with the Judicial system and Checks and Balances. Page 43 needs to be read.
Friday we have an in class game assignment dealing with the Constitution.

Geography-Waters, Mountains, and Islands of Europe-due 9/25
Lit. Skills
Chapters 7-9 will be read in class this week. Students need to write a short, two to three paragraph, explanation of what character they are most like and why they feel this way. This is due on Friday 9/25.

Work for the Week of September 14, 2009
History
Current event due Tues. 9/15
We will be reading and working on pages 22-37 in our Constitution booklets this week. Some reading will be in class but most will be independent at home. You will need to answer the questions on page 32 and turn them in on a separate sheet of paper on Thur. 9/17.
We have a 1st Amendment packet that we will be working on ALL week with a partner or triad. This is due on Friday, 9/18.
Your geography, Map of Asia, is due on Friday, 5/18 also.
Lit. Skills
You need to keep current with our reading. We will read chapters 4-6 this week in class. You need to illustrate any scene from chapters 1-3 and write a few sentences of explanation. This is due Friday, 9/18. Keep working on chapter questions in the packet and the chapter summaries.

Week of September 7th
History
Current Event assignments are due today.
Our first Geography sheet was assigned, Map of North America, and it is due on Friday, 9/11.
We continue working in our Constitution Book and will cover pages 13-19.
WE WILL HAVE A QUIZ THIS WEEK ON PAGE 19, be ready.
Lit. Skills
We will read chapters 2 and 3 in our novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. You will need to write a reflection on chapter 1 or 2 which is due on Friday. This is a 2-3 paragraph reflection on the reading we've done so far. I want to know your thoughts and feelings.
